Summer Activities to Enjoy While Using a Mobility Scooter

Summer Activities to Enjoy While Using a Mobility Scooter

Summertime is approaching and you have just gotten your new mobility scooter. Now you are looking for ideas that you can do to keep busy outside. Do not let your disability stop you from exploring. There are still so many activities that you can do that offer accessibility. Below, we have combined a list of activities that you can do with your friends and family to enjoy the summertime.

Explore Local Parks

Many towns have parks that are great for getting out of the house. Often parks and walking paths are so wide open that they are great for mobility scooters and wheelchair users. Parks are a wonderful place to go with family, friends, and grandkids to get some fresh air and explore nature.

Going on Walks

It may seem simple but getting out of the house even for a quick walk around the house is good for the soul. Being able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and warm sun makes a walk perfect.

Trips to the Zoo

This will require asking a family or friend to load up the mobility scooter in a vehicle. Now, with your mobility scooter, you can cruise around the zoo on a beautiful day and enjoy looking at all the animals without having to be on your feet for hours at a time!

Go to a Farmers’ Market or Craft/Art Show

Did you once enjoy going to farmers’ markets or art fairs to get fresh food and beautiful art, but it became too difficult to walk for prolonged periods of time? If these markets have a solid surface to ride on, bring your mobility scooter along and enjoy exploring the markets once again.

If you or a loved one are still considering purchasing a mobility scooter, Merrick Surgical has a wide selection to choose from.
